USDA’s ReConnect Program Continues to Bridge Digital Divide

The broadband internet initiative will provide $700 million to rural and unserved communities.

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Tom Vilsack has announced the ReConnect Program, an initiative under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that will award nearly $700 million in grants and loans. This initiative is intended to bring reliable and affordable high-speed internet to rural residents, farmers, and business owners across 22 states and the Marshall Islands. It is designed to address the most challenging internet connectivity gaps in the country, including remote and unserved communities.

“Keeping the people of rural America connected with reliable, high-speed internet brings new and innovative ideas to the rest of our country and creates good-paying jobs along the way,” Secretary Vilsack said. “These investments will support economic growth and prosperity for generations to come.”

This announcement marks the fourth round of funding for the ReConnect Program and includes $667 million in USDA investments in various communities, including those within the Rural Partners Network.
